|Terrier Cross||Small||Female||7 years|
Clara is a dog currently on Freshfields waiting list, whose owner has reached out to us in desperation to try and help her find a new home.
She has a sad tale to tell, having been adopted from a rescue centre in Ireland where she was for 2 long years.
Clara was adopted around 2 years ago by a couple with the best intentions but then a house move and plans to start a family resulted in her being passed onto relatives.
The relatives have been looking after Clara for 5 months but have found her to be the wrong dog for their busy household.
There are already 3 resident dogs in the home who Clara has only just started to accept but her owners feel she would be much happier as the only dog in the home.
Clara does have some issues and will need a very specific home. She is fearful of strangers and will need several introductions to new people. Therefore an adult only home without many visitors would suit her best, or perhaps somewhere with a quiet room where she can be kept separate should strangers need to visit.
She is not good with cats or small animals and will snap at dogs on walks if they approach her. She is an anxious little girl who is very stressed about new people/animals and needs a calm and patient owner who can help turn her life around.
This really is Clara’s last chance at happiness, the only other advice her owners have been given is to have her put to sleep. We believe that Clara deserves better than this, she is a sweet and affectionate girl once she trusts you and she has bags of potential. After just 5 months with her current owners she has already made huge progress. She just needs a home where she will feel safe and can settle in without the worry and distractions of strangers and other animals.
She is only a small Jack Russell sized dog although she can appear to look bigger on photos.
It will be a long process of gaining Clara’s trust with several visits to and from the rescue so her new owner must be prepared to travel.
Clara is not going to be an easy dog, but we can guarantee that the journey will be so rewarding. She really does deserve a second chance.
