Candy is a medium-sized girl, roughly two years old. Candy is an absolute sweetheart and affectionate when she comes out of her shell. She is anxious around unknown dogs and likes to keep her distance but does gain confidence around dogs as she gets to know them and becomes very playful and exuberant with dogs she knows. She is nervous around strangers (especially men) and sudden noises so would benefit from experienced and patient active adopters in a quiet home, who will continue her training and gentle socialisation with other dogs and people.
Candy will be worth all the time and patience her adopters provide. She truly is a lovely and beautiful girl with great potential. She is house-trained and non-destructive in the home and has some basic training. Although her lead-walking needs some work, she has fantastic recall and is great off-lead! She loves to run in the open, empty countryside where she feels safe and happy and would be best placed in a home away from a city centre with adopters who enjoy the great outdoors. She is looking for someone dedicated to giving her the encouragement and experience she needs to regain her confidence and continue her training. Candy will be very happy in the right environment and will repay her forever family with a lifetime of loyalty and companionship.
Candy and her two brothers were thrown into garbage as young pups and were lucky to have been found by a rescuer before it was too late. She has been living in her adoptive home in the UK for about a year now but her nervousness combined with the arrival of a new baby means her family have had to make the tough decision to rehome her.
Give a Dog a Home UK is a non-profit rescue mainly rehoming dogs that come over from Greece, Cyprus and Romania. They mainly rehome to the South East but also much further afield.
