Candy is a medium-sized girl, around two years old. She is an absolute sweetheart and so affectionate when she comes out of her shell but is nervous around strangers (especially men) during initial greetings. She is also anxious around unknown dogs and likes to keep her distance but does gain confidence around dogs as she gets to know them. She becomes very playful and exuberant outside with dogs she knows and enjoys playing chase on walks. Candy would benefit from experienced and patient adopters who will continue her training and gentle socialisation with other dogs and people.
Candy will be worth all the time and patience her adopters provide. She truly is a lovely and beautiful girl with great potential. She is clean in the home and has some basic training. Although her lead-walking needs some work, she has really fantastic recall and is great off-lead! Candy absolutely loves the countryside and would be an absolute joy to take out on hikes. She would love her adopters to enjoy the great outdoors as much as she does! For this reason she would be best placed in a home away from a city centre.
Candy’s nervous nature means she would be best homed as an only dog and preferably in an adult-only home. She is looking for someone dedicated to giving her the encouragement and training she needs to regain her confidence in life. Candy will be very happy in the right environment and will repay her forever family with a lifetime of loyalty and companionship.
Candy and her two brothers were thrown into garbage as young pups and were lucky to have been found by a rescuer before it was too late. She has been living in her adoptive home in the UK for about a year now but family circumstances meant she is being rehomed.
Give a Dog a Home UK is a non-profit rescue mainly rehoming dogs that come over from Greece, Cyprus and Romania. They mainly rehome to the South East but also much further afield.
