Hello, my name is Tom and I am a 2 and a half year old lurcher. I’m really shy but very sweet once I get to know you. When I feel comfortable with you, I may even try to play! I’d love a home with a confident dog who can show me how fun life can be.

Tom is a stunning lurcher who came in to the rescue with his brother Jerry after being found as strays. They were re homed, however, they were returned for being destructive in the home. Tom has separation anxiety and doesn’t like being left alone, so would prefer a home with someone who can help him overcome his anxieties and with someone who is home for most of the day to work with him. Tom is the more confident one of the duo who has started to show his playful side with us here. Tom is great with other dogs, and currently shares a kennel with his brother and another lurcher. We feel Tom would benefit greatly from a home with another confident dog that can show him that things aren’t as scary as they seem. A confident dog may also help him with his separation anxiety. He needs a home without cats or small furries. Tom needs a home with someone who has experience with nervous dogs and that can help him gain his confidence over time and get used to the outside world. We have been doing some work with Tom recently and have learnt that he is scared of going to new places, but is much better after a few positive visits. Being such a nervous boy, he would prefer a home with sensible teenagers as we feel younger children would be a bit overwhelming for him. Tom will make a great companion to someone who has the time and patience to help him build his confidence and carry on his training.
