|Rottweiler||Medium-Large||Male||2 Years 7 Months|
- Good with Dogs
Cassius is a very handsome, medium to large sized Rottweiler. He came into the Sanctuary due to his original owner sadly passing away; he was then looked after by a relative but they were unable to keep him long term. Cassius lived with Jack, the Spaniel in his previous home, who is also available for adoption separately. He is a very loving, polite young lad but he is very scared and nervous of men; we do not know the reason for this but he tends to prefer women. He will bark at you whilst in the kennel but once he has met you and has become accustomed to you he is a beautiful natured dog who is gentle, well behaved and laid back. We recommend any potential owners coming up to the Sanctuary on a few occasions until Cassius is used to you. He loves his fuss and attention and likes to put his head in your lap for a ear rub! He has been well trained and knows sit, down, stay and paw (although he is a little bit enthusiastic with his paw and almost knocks you over!). He walks perfectly on the lead and walks to heel; he only pulls if he sees another dog. He likes his walks around the field and has his playful moments; he likes to be chased! We would definitely recommend that he attends training classes as this would be good for exposure to new people and situations and would also provide him with stimulation.
We have introduced Cassius to other dogs whilst at the Sanctuary and he is friendly; he is quite vocal when he meets them but is playful. He may be able to live with another dog following a successful meet at the Sanctuary and at the homecheck stage to determine that they are suitable for each other. Unfortunately, he wouldn’t be able to live with cats as he hasn’t any history of living with them and he may chase them, so we feel a cat free home would be best for Cassius. Cassius does food guard his dinner bowl when there is food in it; due to this we are looking for an adult only home with any children in the household to be 16 years and upwards; we are looking for owners who are comfortable in handling this issue and are confident. Once he has eaten his food, he is quite happy for the bowl to be removed. He adores treats and is more than happy to take them from your hand. Cassius is a gorgeous boy; he is so polite, quiet and a gentleman. He would make a great companion for a home! Cassius is vaccinated, castrated, microchipped, deflead and wormed. If you feel you could offer Cassius a loving, forever home please come to the Sanctuary and meet him.
