Holly

Rehomed

Holly is a beautiful, Jack Russell Terrier X. She originally came into the Sanctuary due to her previous family not having enough time for her. Holly was recently rehomed but was unfortunately returned to the Sanctuary due to her owner struggling to cope with her terrier characteristics. Holly is very wary of new people and has a nervous temperament therefore any potential owners should be willing to come up to the Sanctuary on a few occassions in order to form a bond. Once you have gained her trust she is a very loving, affectionate little girl who loves her cuddles and fuss; she can be protective over her owner so we are looking for people who are comfortable and willing to address this issue and ideally we would like her to be re-homed with more than one person in the household so that she doesn’t become overly protective of any one person in the home. We are looking for owners who have experience and knowledge of terriers and are confident and assertive handlers. Holly will require professional one to one training, progressing to dog socialisation classes; she needs time, patience and attention in order to improve and work on her confidence with people and other dogs. She was attacked by another dog whilst away from the Sanctuary and this has affected her reactions to other dogs whilst on her walks, she will bark and lunge towards them and be very reactive. Her carers have been giving her intensive training and have been lead walking her with other dogs in our field and as previously stated this will have to be continued in her new home. Holly has some knowledge of her commands such as sit, has good recall and she loves her runs in our field! She is a lively, energetic little girl who loves her exercise. Holly would probably be best to go to a home without cats as she was quite afraid of them when she was introduced to one. She would be able to live with older teenagers (16+) only that are used to dogs due to her wariness around new people. If you feel you can offer Holly the time and attention she needs, please come to the Sanctuary and meet her.
