Juniper is 8 years old. She has spent all her life outside on a gypsy/traveller site. When she arrived in rescue she was thin, had filthy teeth and 4 mammary tumours.
She is ¾ Saluki, about 24 inches to the shoulder.
In the last 6 weeks she has put on weight, been spayed and is now well and happy.
Juniper does have one health issue: of the 3 mammary tumours that were tested, 2 proved to be low-grade malignant. They have been completely excised and, now that she is spayed, they are unlikely to return, or more to grow. However, it is something that an adopter would have to be vigilant about and have any new lumps removed.
Juniper is mostly good with other dogs – excellent with her own family dogs, polite with other dogs when on lead. However, she can occasionally bark at dogs she meets when off-lead and so she is muzzled for off-lead walks.
She was rather a blank dog when she first came here but is now happy and shows her excitement about going out for walks and having food. She is a gentle dog.
She loves her food and is at present being fed some biscuit and sardines or Naturediet for breakfast and mostly raw meat in the evening.
Juniper would like a home where she gets lots of free running. Her recall is good – and she rarely strays from one’s side except to go off and do a few zoomies. She can live with other dogs – though there may be a settling in period. She would like lots of cuddles and comfortable beds to make up for the hard surfaces she has been on all her life.
