Lucas is a gorgeous 12 year old Cocker Spaniel boy who came into the Oldies Club rescue because his owner was moving and couldn’t take poor Lucas along. He is now in an Oldies Club foster home in Finchley, London, waiting for someone to offer him a permanent home.
Previously used to being left: In his previous home Lucas was left all day and we were told that he just slept. His foster carers are with him all the time, so in his new home Lucas may need to start by having short breaks initially to re-introduce him to being left again. He loves having company and attention so wouldn’t suit full-time workers. In his previous home he slept downstairs but he now sleeps in his basket in the bedroom.
Fine with dogs he meets: Lucas hasn’t lived with other dogs before, but he seems fine when he meets them outside, so it’s a possibility with sensible introductions. He is also good with horses and cows.
Not used to cats: Lucas hasn’t lived with cats, and his previous owners said he may chase, but with a dog-savvy cat and the ability to separate them it could work.
Could live with older teenagers: Lucas has lived with a 2 year old in a previous home and tolerated being pestered, but as he’s an older dog now he may become anxious. He needs to be rehomed where children are at least 14 years of age.
Enjoys walks, currently on-lead: Lucas is good on walks. His previous owner told us that he doesn’t pull and has good recall (although he may be a bit hard of hearing). His foster carers don’t let him off the lead and have reported some pulling, which could be because Lucas is expecting to go off lead. Lucas loves his walks and is energetic. He is currently have three 20-minute walks each day.
